Be Honest with Your Lawyer

It happened again. I was just blindsided by opposing counsel with information about my own client. And my client knew it was coming.

One of the most frustrating things a lawyer deals with is a client that withholds information. How can an attorney effectively represent you if you do not provide him with all of the valuable information he needs? This includes valuable information that may not be in your favor. If your attorney knows this information ahead of time, he can prepare for it - or at a minimum be ready for it.

You are likely paying your attorney a lot of money for representing you. Do you really want him/her to be at a disadvantage in your case? Don't let embarrassment, worry, or some other reason keep you from disclosing vital information to your lawyer. Your lawyer is on your side.
